Hand crafted square pendant, in deep reds and golds, made from polymer clay. The base pattern was formed in gold, copper and black polymer clays folded together to form a random cane and sliced thinly and stretched. I then added some spots of 'birdwing copper' pearlescent paint in the dark areas and crackled this surface.
The pattern was laid thinly, like a veneer, onto some base clay to form the pendant. After curing, the pendant has been sanded to soften all the edges and corners and then finished with several layers of gloss acrylic sealant to protect the design. The pendant hangs from two brass D loops on the back to ensure that it hangs straight in wear - please see the additional photographs for a photograph of the back. The loops are set into drilled holes on the back and further secured with epoxy resin.
The pendant drops 30mm (1.2") from the chain in wear and is 40mm )1½") square. It is currently on a gold plated cable chain which is 455mm (18") in length and fastens with a bolt ring clasp, but it could be provided on an alternative necklace upon request, such as black PVC thong or waxed cotton.
