Solid copper hand sculpted wild rose pendant
£149.00
Product Code: 28910f
Entirely hand sculpted solid copper pendant featuring a single open wild rose bloom. The flower has been painstakingly created from individually formed components and sculpted into a substantial and unique antiqued copper pendant.
I created a template for each petal and individually cut and formed them into natural curves, bringing them together into a natural looking open bloom, complete with a detailed central section with detailed stigmas and anthers - each of which was hand rolled as a tiny ball and individually applied with tweezers.
The rose has been made in copper clay and represents many hours of detailed work under a magnifier with tweezers. It hangs from a plain rounded loop on the back of the top petal, ensuring that you only see the flower itself in wear. The back structure with the bail loop can be seen in one of the additional photographs by selecting [+] More Images.
I also blogged about the making of this piece and the process.
Size:
The wild rose pendant is around 42mm (1.65") in diameter.
I suggest two chain lengths:
I would suggest that the pendant could either be worn at the throat within the neckline of clothing, or longer over the top of a garment. To this end I will supply the pendant with two chains - one for each type of wear.
I would suggest a finer chain something in the area of 18" long and a heavier matching chain (as shown in the photographs) around 30" - but please do specify your own preferences in the comment box during checkout. The chains will be a really nice quality antiqued copper belcher (rollo) chain which fastens with my own hand crafted hook and loop clasp. If you would prefer a leather thong or cord for the shorter version, that could be done too, please contact me to discuss this option.
What is copper clay:
Copper clay is a clay like medium made from tiny particles of copper, combined with an organic binder and made into a pliable clay or paste with water. After working with the clay-like medium to form the article, or components to assemble the finished piece as in this case, it is thoroughly dried to remove all of the water, the shape is assembled and gradually further refined and then fired at very high temperature in a kiln for several hours to both burn off the binders and to cause the copper particles to fuse together as solid metal.
Please note that due to the value and unique nature of this item, it will be posted Special Delivery within the UK (which will require signature on delivery) or by Airsure International Airmail where the service is available. There is no additional charge for this, it is my preference to send it in this manner.
