Entirely hand crafted copper earrings on a spotty theme, featuring a pair of hand made glass beads in a deep bottle green, adorned with textural burgundy coloured dots and hung below with spotty textured oval hand crafted copper charms.
The oval charms have been hand made from copper clay, impressed with a spotted texture, cut and later highly polished and antiqued to highlight the pattern. The ovals hang and move freely at the bottom of wire wrapped drops. These earrings are one of a kind as I only have one pair of these beads.
The copper has been antiqued to enhance the textures and patterns and all cut ends have been filed and polished smooth for your comfort.
Copper clay is a clay like medium made from tiny particles of copper (other metals are available too), combined with an organic binder and made into a pliable clay or paste with water. After working with the clay-like medium to form the article, it is thoroughly dried to remove all of the water, the shape is then further refined and then fired at high temperature to both burn off the binders and to cause the copper particles to fuse together as solid metal. Whilst the medium makes it possible to achieve things not possible with other metal forms, it is still quite time-consuming and there are several stages to achieving a nice finish.
The earrings drop 53mm (2.1") overall from the top of the straight drop earwires and hang 15mm (0.6") at their widest in wear.
