Oval shaped etched copper earrings with retro geometric design

Oval copper earrings featuring an etched design of interlocking geometric shapes. The etched ovals hang from hammered teardrop loop earwires, allowing them to swing freely in wear.
Each earring features one of a matched symmetric pair of oval panels that have been etched using my recently rediscovered love of copper etching, using a salt water technique. These quite large earrings feature a rather retro style of design of overlapping geometric shapes - a design that was inspired by a fleeting glance of some rather lurid 70s wallpaper. I drew the design myself digitally using vector drawing software and used this to create a design resist/mask for the etching process. You can read more about the process used for these earrings in my blog.
The copper sheet used for the etch was quite thin, so the earrings will be very light to wear, but this also means that they require a little care in handling as the panels will potentially bend with force applied. The earrings have been antiqued to enhance the textures of the design and polished back to a deeply coloured soft satin finish. The pattern has been mirrored between the earrings, truly making them a matched pair.
They hang from earwires with a feature hammered and polished scroll above a teardrop loop, allowing the earrings to move freely. Due to the design, the earwires are in a slightly heavier gauge of copper than I usually make my earwires, if you're sensitive to the diameter that goes through your piercing.
The earrings hang 52mm (2") overall from the top of the earwires and they are 19mm (¾") in width. Whilst they are quite large, they are actually very light to wear.
