Large Obsidian bead pendant with spiral wrapped bail

Large glossy obsidian bead pendant spiral wrapped with heavy gauge copper wire with a  hammered bail and paddle.

The core of this entirely hand crafted pendant is a large round semi-precious bead of black obsidian.  Obsidian is a glassy volcanic rock, formed with volcanic lava cools rapidly without bubbling or forming crystals.

The pendant has been formed from a single length of heavy gauge copper wire formed into a hammered feature bail and then spiraling around the large obsidian bead and terminating in a hammered paddle pin wrapped with the wire.

The pendant has been extensively hand polished and then antiqued to bring out the textured of the wire wrapping and give it the lovely warm glow of aged copper.

The pendant drops 37mm (1.45") overall from the included antiqued copper cable chain. The bead is 16mm (0.6") in diameter.

Chain length:

The antiqued copper cable chain fastens with my own hand crafted hook and loop clasp and will be supplied 18" (460mm) by default, but if you'd like a different length (up to 24" within this price), please let me know and I'll be happy to make something else to order for you.

Please note that as chains are made to order for each customer, they are polished to match the pendant, where the ones used in photographs are 'prop' chains that don't necessarily match as well, as they are used for more than one design.

Ooops Price!

I didn't notice it until I came to photograph this pendant, but it doesn't hang quite perpendicular - I don't know if the hole in the bead isn't central, or if I've not centered the bail over it correctly, but as it is a little wonky, I've reduce the price accordingly.
