One of a kind circle pendant featuring a hand sculpted and carved wren, taken from one of my own photographs.  The wren is supported on a circle surround, which has been textured with a leaf tendril motif, one of my own digitally drawn designs.  All of the details of the pendant have been hand sculpted and formed by myself in metal clay (more on metal clay below) which is done over several days.  The hanging bail is a discreet loop behind the top leaf, to which additional texture has been supplied in the form of tiny berries.

This is a wren that I've seen many times in the same place and as it's a place we often stop to eat lunch, I put some cheese on the wall for her and as a result, she visits us often.  The photograph I got this particular day, wasn't very good, but it was a good pose, so I have used it as the basis for this design.

The pendant has been made by me in a pink bronze metal clay called Desert Sun, which has a high copper content, but is officially a bronze.  So I think it would satisfy both requirements for either a bronze, or copper piece, as the belcher chain is solid copper too. The pendant has been antiqued to bring out the details.

The pendant hangs 36mm (1.4") overall in height and is 29mm (1.15") at its widest.  The circle base of the pendant is 27mm (1.1") in diameter.  The wren pendant hangs from the chain by a discreet 'D' bail loop on the back behind the leaf, which can be seen in the additional photographs.

The solid copper chain fastens with my own hand crafted hook and loop clasp and will be supplied 18" (460mm) by default, but as the chains are made to order, if you'd like a different length, please let me know and I'll be happy to make it up to your requirements.

Please note:  I noticed as I listed this item, that I'd taken photographs of it on 2 different chain styles, so either can be supplied, according to your preference - one is a cable chain (flat, oval links) and the other is a rounder belcher (rollo) chain.  They're both of exactly the same quality from a premium range, with soldered links and an antiqued finish.

What is metal clay?

Metal clay (now available in base metals like copper, bronze, iron, steel and brass and precious metals like silver and even gold) is a clay like medium made from tiny particles of metal, combined with an organic binder and made into a pliable clay or paste with water. After working with the clay-like medium to form the article, it is thoroughly dried to remove all of the water, the shape is further refined and then fired at very high temperature in a kiln to both burn off the binders and to cause the metal particles to fuse together as solid metal - this firing takes a full day to complete - at which time I tend to work with crossed fingers, hoping that the kiln gods are smiling on me that day and it fires successfully.   Not everything does.
