Stock Level: 1
Gold coloured bronze hand sculpted leaf brooch pin attached to a short twig and adorned with a peridot coloured cubic zirconium facted gemstone.
This small brooch pin, ideal for a jacket lapel or on knitwear, has been entirely hand crafted in a lovely gold coloured bronze metal clay called Sunny Bronze. It features a naturally contoured beech style leaf, attached to a small textured twig or small branch, which nestles a peridot coloured faceted cubic zirconium gemstone, with a few tiny balls added for texture.
The brooch is embedded on the back with a plain chromed (and please be careful, it's sharp) pin and butterfly clutch back, which has a nice positive and secure click for keeping the brooch in place. This is shown in the photos above.
The gold bronze pin measures 28mm (1.1") tall and is 22mm (0.85") at its widest.
What is metal clay?
Metal clay (now available in base metals like copper, bronze, iron, steel and brass and precious metals like silver and even gold) is a clay like medium made from tiny particles of metal, combined with an organic binder and made into a pliable clay or paste with water. After working with the clay-like medium to form the article, it is thoroughly dried to remove all of the water, the shape is further refined and then fired at very high temperature in a kiln to both burn off the binders and to cause the metal particles to fuse together as solid metal - this firing takes a full day to complete - at which time I tend to work with crossed fingers, hoping that the kiln gods are smiling on me that day and it fires successfully.
