Faux carved jade stick earrings with red jasper beads

Carved polymer clay stick shaped earrings in a faux jade colour way and with red Brecciated Jasper accent and polished copper earwires.

These one of a kind earrings are entirely hand crafted and feature polymer clay long thing rectangles of a semi-translucent blue green clay with fibrous inclusions.  After baking the clay, I then hand carved a random geometric pattern which I highlighted with a blue green Gilders Paste.  The clay rectangles were sanded through several grades for a nice soft finish to the carving and then the surface was buffed to a semi-translucent sheen with a wax finish. 

I thought that the end result had a look of carved jade and looking at carved jade netsuke I saw that a lot were teamed with bright red beads, so thought that this would be a nice way to finish these earrings, highlighting the wire wrapped earwires with a red Brecciated Jasper bead each.

The earrings drop 65mm (2.6") overall from the top of the wire wrapped polished copper earwires and then are 10mm (0.4") wide.
