These entirely hand crafted Sterling silver earrings feature a large glossy stone of blue pearl Larvikite below a long antiqued wrap of Sterling silver.

These earrings are quite substantial and to balance the large stones of blue pearl Larvikite I have kept the design simple, but suitably chunky.  They are wrapped on over-size ball ended headpins, wrapped extensively above the beads and antiqued to bring out the texture.   I've extended the wrap into a spiral on top of each gemstone and there's a silver lentil bead beneath each one too.

The cut ends of the wrap have been filed round to prevent snagging and the stones exhibit glorious flashes of blue when catching the light, which I hope you can see in some of the photographs, even though it is hard to capture well in a still frame.

Blue pearl larvikite is also sometimes called blue moonstone, Norwegian moonstone, blue pearl granite or black labradorite - probably because it is darker than moonstone and labradorite, but exhibits the same fabulous flashes of blue irridesence - it is in fact an igneous rock, largely from near Larvik in Norway, the place it was first discovered and hence named.

The earrings hang 43mm (1.7") overall from the top of my own straight drop earwires, which have been hammered and tumbled for strength and the ends rounded for your comfort.  The Larvikite beads are 12mm (½") each in diameter.  This style of earring could be made from any other stones you see in my shop if I still have them available.
