Full Persian weave chain maille toggle bracelet

Chunky antiqued copper chain maille bracelet made in the Full Persian weave and fastening with my own hand crafted toggle clasp.

This bracelet has been entirely hand crafted by myself from raw materials.  The Full Persian weave chain is made from around 160 copper jump rings, which started life as raw copper wire.  I have hand formed and sawn the rings and woven them into this chain.  The toggle loop is made from copper clay and features my own ripple texture design and closes with a wire wrapped copper toggle bar. 

I have tapered the chain weave with gradually smaller rings to ensure a smooth and elegant line towards the clasp at each end.  This weave is also called Fox Tail and it's easy to see when you see it tapering at each end.  The bracelet has been antiqued to bring out the textures and give it the lovely warm tones of aged copper.

Toggle clasps are easy to fasten one-handed and I craft and measure them very carefully for a reliable closure and safety in wear. They won't come undone by themselves, but that also makes them a little more fiddly to fasten - so you'll need a little ease in the fit to allow the bar to pass all the way through the hole, point first, to fall back into place.  Because of the nature of this chain maille weave, this toggle is quite a tight fit to fasten, but I decided that a little more care in fastening the bracelet was worth it to keep the uniform lines and balance of the bracelet overall.

Bracelet fit:

The bracelet has a fit of 165mm (6½") and is 20mm (¾") at its widest, at the toggle clasp.  The chain itself is 8mm (0.3") in diameter.
