I have the megapixel argument at work all the time. I was recently saying how high the noise on the new Sony 8mp cameraphone must have as the sensor is much smaller than that in a compact, and much smaller still than in my SLR, yet they’re cramming the same number of pixels in but without the necessary spaces inbetween the pixels. I try and tell people that the quality of the image on screen will be no better than a 2mp image as the screen is less than 1mp itself and annot display anymore quality, and that more pixels are for bigger prints. They’re still adamant that the bigger ones still look better on screen. I think there are other factors in camera development that come into play, but they won’t have it at all! Infuriating!
