Many thanks. I've made a chunkier one now too that I just need to finish - next will be a silver one. I'm also working on some Roman fibula designs - I saw those while looking into the history of the loop-in-loop chain - which has been found in examples up to 3k old.

I worked out the mechanism last night on a small one and will start on some finished ones today. I'll blog those in due course.

Beautiful bracelet - I love anything inspired by the past and this does have a real 'ancient' feel about it. Would love to see it in silver.

Have the same present dilemma every year. Especially as my sister and mother-in-law don't really wear much jewellery - do I increase their stocks, or just buy them something else? It's usually a compromise between the two!

Thanks Jenny. I have oxidised the bracelet today - then tumbled it extensively, so the copper is just showing on the extremities. I think I want a bit more showing, so will polish some off again. The silver solder doesn't actually show, I used a good medium solder and it took the oxidisation well.

I'm just making another chunkier one until I decided I was too clumsy this evening, so will leave the rest of the soldering until tomorrow.

I always struggle, too, with giving my "home made" gifts for presents to family. They must be getting sick of it, right? I'm going to see I can make a couple of trades on Etsy to change it up a bit this year! Your bracelet turned out gorgeous - and I always love antiqued copper.

Thanks Eiriel. I hope to get outside to oxidise a whole batch of stuff I have waiting, so have decided to do the bracelet and see how it looks. Just hope the rain keeps off a little longer.

I'd give the oxidising a try...the silver may stand out a little but I don't think enough to be noticeable.

I really love that clasp, must invest in soldering equipment so I can make my own too!

Have to say, pretty much everyone I know who I've given hand-made presents to really loves them. I've never actually had a bad response.
