Twisted copper wrapped teardrop earrings

Entirely hand crafted teardrop shaped wrapped loop earrings of antiqued and twisted copper wire.

I became fascinated with the different textures you can achieve by twisting wire together in different combinations and these earrings are made from 2 lengths of the same heavy gauge of copper, twisted loosely.

After twisting the wire lengths together I made it into these long teardrop shaped wrapped loops, which I antiqued to bring out the texture of the twists in the metal and the warm tones of the copper.

The earrings hang 60mm (2.3") overall from the top of the hand crafted copper earwires, which have been hammered lightly for strength and the ends filed for comfort. The loops are 11mm (0.45") at their widest. The earwires were made with an extra large eye to allow the earrings to move freely.

The earrings were extensively tumble polished when first made, then again after antiquing to give it a lovely silky shine and feel.
